On February 1, a serviceman of the Poltava District Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (RDTSS and SP) was shot dead in the city of Pyriatyn.
This was reported by the command of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The tragedy occurred at a gas station on the Kyiv — Kharkov — Dovzhansky highway while escorting military personnel to the 199th training center.

An unknown man in a gray balaclava and pixelated pants approached a serviceman of the Poltava RTC and began to threaten him with a hunting rifle. The attacker demanded that the serviceman hand over the weapon, but was refused. In response, the criminal shot at the serviceman, as a result of which the soldier died on the spot.
After the shot, the attacker took the serviceman's machine gun and fled with one of the mobilized conscripts.

Police conduct special operation Siren
Law enforcement agencies have announced a special operation Siren in Poltava Oblast. Military structures and law enforcement agencies from neighboring regions have been brought in to help with the search.
Detention of the criminal
Later, police reported that they had detained the attacker. Law enforcement agencies reported that information about the shooting at the Pyriatyn gas station was received around midnight on January 31. During the initial investigative actions, it was discovered that the conscripts were being transported accompanied by two TCC employees.
— In order to promptly detain the armed criminals, we immediately launched a special police operation. Within a few hours of operational and investigative activities, we established the location of the attackers. With the involvement of special police units of the region, the defendants were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, said the Chief of Police of Poltava region Yevgeny Rogachev.
As it turned out, the shot at the TCC employee was a resident of Poltava region born in 1984. His accomplice is a resident of Poltava born in 1988. Law enforcement officers seized the weapon from the attacker.
A pre-trial investigation of criminal proceedings opened under Part 1 of Article 115 (premeditated murder), Part 3 of Article 262 (theft of a firearm) and Part 2 of Article 114-1 (obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has been initiated on the fact of the crime committed. The penalty for the articles provides for seven to fifteen years of imprisonment.
The issue of informing the defendants of the suspicions and choosing a preventive measure for them is currently being decided.
