At approximately 15:45 local time, the first reports emerged that a man with an explosive belt was threatening civilians at the Nation station in Paris.

Police arrived on the scene and cordoned off the area. Law enforcement officers examined the location to find the suspect. Armored French commando vehicles (BRI) also arrived at the station in the east of the city.

Local media subsequently reported that the police operation ended without arrests due to a possible false alarm.

Back in March 2024, European media wrote that French intelligence feared terrorist attacks during open-air events as part of the Olympic Games. Possible threats include attacks by lone terrorists with weapons or vehicle collisions with crowds of people.
