The city of Legrad, located in Croatia, decided to follow the example of Italy, where houses are also often sold for next to nothing to attract new residents.

Croatian Legrad sells houses for a symbolic but specific price – 13 cents. All this in order to correct the demographic situation.

Legrad is a rural town in Croatia, located on the Drava River, right on the border with Hungary. There are many green areas and access to nature is provided. Here you can also soak up the water.

The small community of Legrad has only 2,000 inhabitants and would like to increase this number. That's why local authorities launched a program to lure young families.

“We became a border town that had transport connections to other places. Since then, the population has been gradually decreasing.” โ€“ the mayor of the city, Ivan Sabolich, said in an interview with Reuters.

Requirements for potential residents – a married couple under 45 years old, without their own home. Preference will be given to people with scarce professions or with children.

Recall that in a town in southern Italy they sell housing for one euro.
