At a briefing held on Friday, February 10, Moldovan Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita announced that she was resigning. She did not indicate the reasons for this decision, but assured that “the time has come.”
Note that the government of Gavrilitsa worked for 18 months. According to the law of Moldova, the president of the country must sign a decree on the dissolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, which will perform its duties until the new government is sworn in.
Moldova is entering a new stage, based who is security
The Prime Minister announced her resignation and thanked those with whom she managed to work during her tenure, that is, for a year and a half.
Natalia Gavrilitsa stressed that now Moldova is entering a new stage, the priority of which is the country's security. She also listed the achievements of the Cabinet of Ministers during her tenure, in particular, obtaining the status of an EU candidate country for Moldova.
If the government had as much support at home in Moldova, how much more we would have achieved in the EU, in Brussels, – Gavrilitsa said.
Sandu nominated a candidate for the position of a new minister
After consultations with parliamentary factions, Moldovan President Maia Sandu nominated Dorin Recean for the post of Prime Minister of the country.
In turn, Dorin Recean said that he would immediately start preparing a program for the new Cabinet of Ministers . He identified 3 key priorities:
- First – order and discipline in state institutions.
- Second – give new life to the economy – more resources for investment in business, small and medium-sized enterprises.
- Third, peace and stability.
