As Mayor Andriy Sadovy noted, on September 9, the British flag was flown at half mast in front of the Town Hall. They did this as a sign of solidarity with the British, mourning the death of Elizabeth II.

How Ukraine reacted to the death of Elizabeth II

Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that he learned about the death of Queen Elizabeth with deep sadness. He expressed sincere condolences to the royal family on behalf of the entire Ukrainian people. The President of Ukraine stressed that the departure of Her Majesty is an irreparable loss.

First Lady Olena Zelenska added that Elizabeth II was an extraordinary person, the mother of an entire nation. Moreover, she managed to become a legend during her lifetime. So, in the hearts and minds of millions of people around the world, she will remain forever.

Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President Mikhail Podolyak also reacted to the loss. According to him, the replacement of the head of the throne is a big procedure, like the burial itself. He noted that the world media will change their focus for the time being, because they will focus on the tragedy in London.

We add that the throne should be taken by the son of Elizabeth II, Prince Charles. He, according to media reports, should be proclaimed the king of Great Britain on September 10th. He will not only rule the monarchy, but will also take on a new name – Charles III.
