Many residents of the eastern regions refuse to evacuate because they are afraid that no one will be in the West of the country waiting. However, this is not the case at all.

Igor from the Slavyansky district of the Donetsk region spoke about this in an interview on Channel 24 as part of the SVOI project. He shared his own experience of moving to Lviv and knows for sure that nonsense about the “evil West” is just a fable.

The western city has become a second home for a man. He does not get tired of repeating that he met very good people here.

The first 3.5 months after the move, local volunteers helped Igor and his wife with housing. Subsequently, the couple began to rent housing on their own.

Igor says that often people are afraid to comethrough Russian propaganda, which convinces Ukrainians that “evil people” live in the western regions. However, the man assures that this is not true.

Do not listen to propaganda, fiction, which are trying to quarrel the inhabitants of the eastern and western regions. I experienced it firsthand. Arriving in Lviv, I witnessed how all this lies about the “evil West” collapsed, – says Igor.

  • In Lviv, residential high-rise buildings for IDPs will be built. The European Commission has developed a project “EU support in providing housing for internally displaced persons in Lviv”.
  • Thanks to it, the Lviv City Council will receive 15.5 million euros, for which 2 multi-storey houses will be built for IDPs. We are talking about eight-story buildings with playgrounds and a rehabilitation center.
  • On December 6, deputies of the city council agreed on the conditions for receiving a grant. Housing for Ukrainians who left their homes due to the war is planned to be built within 18 months.
