In the morning, police received reports that an unknown man with a samurai sword attacked passers-by in east London near the Hainault metro station. First, the criminal allegedly drove his own van into one of the houses, and then came out of the car with a samurai sword. Law enforcement officers, doctors and rescuers immediately rushed to the scene of the incident.
The attacker attacked not only passers-by with a sword, but also tried to attack two policemen. As of now, it is known that 5 people were injured – they were hospitalized. Another 5 victims did not require hospitalization, so they were released. As they write in the media, among the wounded there were both men and women.
The man with the sword was detained – he is in custody. He turned out to be a 36-year-old man. Footage from the scene was also published online. They show an armed man in a yellow-mustard hoodie with a sword in his hands walking under houses and hiding in the bushes.

They write online that they managed to detain the attacker by hitting him with a stun gun. The attacker allegedly wanted to get into one of the houses, but law enforcement officers used a stun gun.
Witnesses of the attack say that the man allegedly shouted: “Do they believe in God?.” At the same time, the police note that this incident is not related to terrorism.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also responded to the attack in London. He expressed his condolences to the families whose loved ones were injured during the attack.
