Kyiv said goodbye to the journalist and Ukrainian soldier Alexander Makhov on May 9. The life of the defender was cut short by enemy shelling at the front on May 4.
36-year-old Alexander was spent on his last journey in the Mikhailovsky Golden-domed Cathedral in Kyiv. The fallen soldier was buried at the Berkovets cemetery.
About a hundred people came to the farewell ceremony
They came to honor the memory of the journalist and thank him for his courage and strength about a hundred people. Relatives, friends, colleagues and brothers in the army gathered in the temple.
This is a man who always stood by his words, who went to protect us, who was very kind. And in general, when you start to say that “was” it, to put it mildly, does not fit into your head … Sasha is a hero, – said journalist Artem Dzhepko.
Alexander's former employee, Vladislav Smolyanets, recalled Makhov's reports from his native, but occupied Lugansk. That is why Alexander went to fight in order to liberate his native land from the invader.

How Alexander Makhov died
A few days before his death, Alexander was hit by a shrapnel. However, the warrior noted that he would remain in the ranks and would continue to fight. Already on May 4, it was reported that Makhov was gone. According to President Zelensky, the journalist died in the Kharkiv region, in the battles near Izyum.
