In Kyiv, the level of the Dnieper has risen: what is the reason for this and are there any threats to the capital

The water in the Dnieper River rose after a Russian rocket attack on 10 October. To facilitate the work of power plants, the people of Kiev are asked to reduce the use of light.

As of October 12, the increase in the water level in the Dnieper within Kyiv does not exceed emergency values. Hydroelectric power stations and pumped storage power plants are operating normally.

The city state administration explains that the water in the river has risen due to the intensive operation of the power plant. However, experts control the situation. It is predicted that the water level should stabilize within a week.

The city authorities are also asking residents to reduce the use of powerful electrical appliances. In particular, during peak hours in the evening – from 17 to 22.

Pay attention! After a massive Russian attack, Ukrainians were warned about a power outage.

Schedule of power outages in Kyiv

On October 10, Russian invaders massively fired missiles at Ukrainian infrastructure. As a result, in some regions there were problems with light and communication.

The invaders also damaged the Kyiv thermal power plant. This has been confirmed in the OP. Ukrainians were also told to prepare for rolling blackouts.

Then, the lights began to turn off hourly in the capital. Consumer addresses were divided into three queues. In particular:

  • 1 queue – from 8:00 to 12:00 and from 20:00 to 24:00;
  • 2 queue – from 12:00 to 16:00 :00;
  • Phase 3 – from 16:00 to 20:00.

The original plan was to turn off the power supply for part of the third phase. However, in the evening, due to a shortage of capacities, it was necessary to limit electricity for all citizens. Read more about this in the material of Channel 24.
