Elephants got drunk in one of the Indian villages
In November, in the village of Salipada in the eastern state of Odisha, India, a herd of 24 elephants found pots of liquor with flowers of the maduka long tree. Banks with this drink are left in the jungle for fermentation in clay pots.
When the villagers came to the jungle to pick up the finished drink, they saw that all the jugs were broken, and more than two dozen elephants lay on the lawn. 15 adult elephants and 9 baby elephants drank all the liquor and fell asleep. However, the sleep was so strong that no one could wake them up.
Therefore, wildlife conservation officers had to be called to the scene, who woke up the animals by beating drums. The elephants did wake up, however, obviously, as happens after people drink alcohol, they were ill. They slowly got up and returned to the forest.
