In France, 200 people were detained on the day of the “yellow vests” actions. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the police prefecture.

It is known that out of the total number of those detained, 54 were taken into custody. In addition, the Metropolitan Police said on Twitter that 35 activists were fined.

Earlier, the agency's correspondent said that during the resumed movement of “yellow vests” near the Place Wagram in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, riots broke out, because of which the police used tear gas. The first protesters began gathering for the demonstration around 10:00 local time.

“At first the action took place in a calm atmosphere, but at some point aggressive participants joined it. They threw stones at the police, set fire to the contents of the urns, in response, law enforcement officers used tear gas and drove the hooligans away. The troublemakers overturned a large urn with glass containers and rolled them down the street. Hooligans also set fire to a moped parked near the square where the rally is taking place. The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters, ”RIA Novosti reports.

In July, the squabble of French President Emmanuel Macron with the “yellow vests” was on video. The head of state clashed with Protestants near the Elysee Palace during the Bastille Day celebrations. Activists surrounded Macron and began chanting anti-government slogans and demanding his resignation.

The “yellow vest” promotions began in France in November 2018. Initially, they were held to protest the increase in the price of car fuel, due to which the protesters donned the reflective yellow vests of motorists. Over time, the protesters began to put forward political demands at the actions, which took place every Saturday before the quarantine.
