According to the Ukrainian Embassy in France, the accident occurred at around 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13.

— The French Ministry of the Interior reported that in the French department of Sarthe, near the city of Le Mans, there was a car accident involving a passenger bus, in which there were Ukrainian citizens – adults and children, — the statement says.

According to preliminary information, the bus was transporting Ukrainian citizens, in particular a group of children, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.

It is now known that four people died in the accident, at least 30 people were injured. Among them, 11 people are in serious condition. The victims were hospitalized.

According to information from the Consular Department of the PU in France, an accident involving a passenger bus with Ukrainian registration occurred on the A81 motorway near Le Mans (Sarthe department), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.

The Ukrainian Ambassador to France, Vadim Omelchenko, and embassy staff went to the scene.

The Ukrainian Embassy in France noted that they are in constant contact with the prefecture and local services to promptly provide assistance to the victims and clarify the circumstances.

Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha instructed the Department of Consular Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Ukraine in France to keep the situation under special control and to provide appropriate assistance to the affected citizens.

The accident occurred on the Rennes-Le Mans highway near the town of Degre, at the 179th kilometer.

Traffic on the A81 motorway has been suspended. Emergency services are at the scene.
