The Ukrainian flag that flies in front of the city hall of the Finnish city of Lappeenranta near the border with Russia has been vandalized twice in the past week. City authorities contacted the police.

It is reported that for the first time unknown persons cut the ropes, on which the flag was held, after which it ended up on the ground. After the flag was returned to its place, the vandals did it again and cut the ropes on the neighboring flagpoles so that the flag could not be hung there either.

After this, the city authorities contacted the police . Now the flag has been removed while the flagpoles are being repaired.

The Ukrainian flag will be returned to the flagpole as soon as possible, promised the mayor of the city, Tuomo Sallinen. .
