In the Croatian Daruvar, a former policeman killed six pensioners in a nursing home, and several more received wounds.

At about 11 a.m., an attacker with a firearm entered the nursing home and started shooting. Five people died on the spot, the exact number of injured has not yet been established. The attacker tried to escape, but was detained in a nearby restaurant.

President of the Republic Zoran Milanović expressed his condolences to the families of those killed in the Home for the Elderly and Infirm in Daruvar.
In turn, the mayor of Daruvar, Damir Lnenicek, said that the criminal was from Donji Daruvar, and that the entire city and surrounding area were in shock. He added that it is difficult to understand what led to this tragedy.
Index reported that the attacker was 51-year-old former police officer Krešimir Pahóki, whose mother lived in a nursing home. She died during the shooting, as well as the security guards and employees of the establishment.
