< p>In Chernigov, the identities of two local residents who stole cables for air raid sirens were identified. The men, because of whom other people might not hear the siren in the event of a threat, wanted to sell the cables for scrap metal.

This was stated by Sergei Guz, an employee of the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Chernihiv region, in a comment to Ukrainian journalists.

The police have opened criminal proceedings on the fact of theft (under Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

In conditions of martial law or a state of emergency, this crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of five up to eight years. The investigation is currently ongoing.

According to open sources, on October 11, sirens were temporarily not turned on in Chernigov. The head of the Chernigov Regional Administration Vyacheslav Chaus said that specialists from Ukrtelecom JSC worked to eliminate the malfunction. Now the warning sirens have been fully restored.
