Some units of the 3rd separate assault brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Avdiivka were completely surrounded for some time, but they managed to break through.
This was reported by the deputy commander of the 3rd Special Brigade Maxim Zhorin.
— Now we can say that for some time some units of the 3rd assault in Avdeevka itself were completely surrounded, but were able to get out, — he emphasized.

Zhorin also denied reports from Russian channels that there are supposedly still defenders on the territory of the Avdeevsky Coke Plant.
— I can say that not a single one of our fighters remains there. There was basically nothing left there except a few dilapidated basements. Almost half of all the KABs that fell on our heads in Avdeevka fell on the territory of the coke plant, — said the deputy brigade commander.
Retreat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Avdiivka
On the night of February 17, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky made a statement about the retreat of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Avdievka.
He explained that the decision to retreat to more advantageous positions was made taking into account the operational situation that had developed around the city in order to avoid encirclement and preserve the lives and health of military personnel.
