Residents of Israel have long had a negative attitude towards Russia. However, this does not apply to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and members of the coalition there.

The editor-in-chief of the portal “Details” (Israel), Emil Shleimovich, told Channel 24 about this, noting that Israeli society has not liked Russia for a long time.

The total number of Israelis who had a negative attitude towards Russia was 73% before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. After – 83%.

The Israelis have never considered Russia a friendly country. Israel has long known what Russia is like. Even part of Israeli society, which was against aid to Ukraine, is already changing its mind. Now, influential Israeli journalists are increasingly saying that this position needs to be reconsidered. But this does not apply to Netanyahu and members of the coalition,” Shleimovich said.

How does Netanyahu feel about Russia?

As Shleimovich emphasized, Netanyahu has perceived Putin as a “senior patron” since ancient times. Now many local residents have hope that after Israel’s victory over Hamas, they will be able to get rid of Netanyahu himself. Although he will definitely try to hold on to power.

There is hope that after the war Netanyahu will be removed. Then there will be one less pro-Russian politician in the world. This is only hope for now. Unfortunately, nothing is guaranteed, because he will definitely cling to power,” Shleimovich said.

Russia has long discredited itself to the Israelis. Therefore, anti-Jewish pogroms surprised few people. Anti-Semitism can break out in any region of Russia, so Jews there need to be careful.

Anti-Jewish rallies in Russia: briefly

  • On October 29, anti-Jewish rallies broke out in Dagestan. Someone spread rumors that refugees from Israel were supposed to arrive there.
  • The local population stormed the airport. They began to look for the inhabitants of Israel, but found no one. The states condemned these pogroms.
  • The local authorities were confused by this development of events. They baselessly began to talk about the “Ukrainian trace” in this situation.
