In dozens of countries around the world, people protested against the war/Alya Zivere
In dozens of countries around the world on Russia Day, people took to the protests. They oppose the war that Vladimir Putin started against Ukraine.
Relevant information was made public in the Russian diaspora in Warsaw. The actions took place on June 12, on the 109th day of the full-scale war that Russia launched against Ukraine.
People in dozens of countries protested against the war
The World Action of Free Russians, called the Day of Independence from Putinism, is taking place in 30 countries of the world, the organizers said.
Actions in 30 countries of the world were organized by diasporas of Russians. They called the event a worldwide anti-war action. The Russian diaspora in Warsaw explained that:
- On June 12, 1990, that is, 32 years ago, the Declaration of Russian Sovereignty was adopted in Russia;
- in it, Russia “undertook to respect democratic rights, freedoms, principles of international law and with all countries and peoples in peace and harmony.”
“After 32 years, the Kremlin unleashed a criminal war against Ukraine, primarily suppressing democratic institutions in their own country, in Poland.
They also emphasized that this is why they go to protests. In particular, they remembered that they want:
- to remind Declaration of sovereignty;
- not to celebrate, but to fight for a free Russia – free from Putinism;
- fight for freedom for Ukraine and against propaganda.
Actions against the war and Putin's regime took place in different countries
In all 30 countries, people with placards took to the streets. In particular:
- in Geneva – they called for peace in Ukraine and freedom in Russia;
- in Latvia – they came to the Russian embassy in Riga with the flags of Ukraine, Latvia and blue and white flags that have become a symbol of the 2022 anti-war protests in Russia against the war in Ukraine;
- Russians took to the streets in Australia and New Zealand.
Russians around the world took to the streets in more than 70 cities to oppose war, war crimes and Putin's regime. We are together with Ukraine these days, we oppose the fascist ideology of the “Russian world” and call on the world to do everything to stop this madness as soon as possible,” the Svoboda Alliance AU&NZ page, created by the diaspora in Australia and New Zealand, said.< /p>
The organizers explained that the protests should take place in Yerevan, Vienna, Prague, Helsinki, Tbilisi, Paris, Strasbourg, Milan, Dublin, London, Amsterdam, Madrid, Stockholm, Washington, New York, Seattle and San Francisco. In addition, only in Germany people were supposed to go to rallies in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt am Main, Göttingen, Heidelberg and Munich.
Briefly about the protests against the Russian war in Ukraine
- In Russia, all protests against the war that Russia started in Ukraine were suppressed. For example, people in Moscow and other cities were arrested just like that, without analyzing their views.
- It is worth remembering that a girl was arrested, who actually declared to the camera supporting the war. The Kremlin allowed itself such actions already on the 18th day of a full-scale war.
- In addition, another girl in Moscow was detained for holding an inscription with the commandment of God. The girl was detained near the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. She was holding a piece of paper with the 6th commandment “Thou shalt not kill”.
