There could be a “significant shift” on the Ukrainian battlefield in 2024, and its consequences will depend on the US and Russian elections.
This opinion was expressed in an interview with the portal Seznam Správy by the President of the Czech Republic, former head of the NATO Military Committee Petr Pavel.
He believes that “the development of the conflict in Ukraine shows that we are likely to see some significant shift next year”.

— And so far everything indicates that this will not be in the best sense of the word, as we would like. A new situation will arise that we will have to deal with, — said Peter Pavel.
He explained that he meant presidential elections in Russia with a predetermined result and in the United States, where the result is not so predictable.
— And it should be predicted that the anticipation of the elections will also lead to certain changes on the battlefield. In the end, President Putin made it clear that there can be no talk of any peace negotiations until the results of the US elections are clear, — says the President of the Czech Republic.
In his opinion, Putin expressed his expectation of the return to power of Donald Trump, with whom he can explain himself “regardless of what Ukraine or the rest of Europe thinks”.
— This is, of course, a situation that is certainly not favorable for us, and we will see to what extent this scenario, which Vladimir Putin hopes for, will be realized, — Pavel summarized.
