The recently elected head of the Polish government, Donald Tusk, may already hold a meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on Thursday, December 14.
The newly elected Polish Prime Minister told reporters about this before the EU-Western Balkans summit.
According to Tusk, there were proposals from Ukraine to hold a meeting with President Zelensky on the morning of December 14, but now the parties are agreeing on technical details.
Now watching
— I am ready for this meeting, perhaps it will take place then (in the morning of December 14, — Ed.), — added the head of the Polish government.
At the same time, Tusk said that it is not yet known how exactly President Zelensky will participate in the summit of leaders of the European Union, which will begin tomorrow, December 14.
— But we must understand that — I am also very pleased to meet the President — due to the fact that there is still a meeting of the European Council, and if I understand correctly, there is no decision yet on what the presence of President Zelensky should look like here in the European Council, so I am not ready to give an exact technical answer as to where and when, — he added.
The new Prime Minister of Poland Tusk recalled that he has friendly relations with the Ukrainian president and “if friends invite him, then the very next day he is at the place where he should be”.
He was also asked about the fact that the head of the Hungarian government, Viktor Orban, opposes further support for Ukraine. Tusk responded diplomatically: “Orban — very pragmatic politician. Take it as a compliment”, he said.
Tusk recalled that as head of the European Council he had a reputation for being “obsessed with Russia”.

— I would rather not be right, but I was right. My role today is to strengthen European resolve — I'm thinking about Europe as such, but I'm also talking about some of the member states that need to be convinced that effective support for Ukraine — this is the most important thing, — said the Prime Minister, answering a question from foreign journalists.
He admitted that he could not come to terms with the issue of apathy or fatigue regarding Ukraine.
— For me this is unacceptable, because we are not only talking about Ukraine, about war, about Russian aggression, we are talking about our future, — emphasized Tusk.
