The head of state recalled that today four countries of the bloc do not support Ukraine's membership – the USA, Germany, Slovakia and Hungary, but in reality everything depends on the position of the United States.

— The NATO issue depends on the United States, specifically on the United States of America and on the position of the president. Therefore, if Trump is ready to see Ukraine in NATO, we will be in NATO there! Everyone will be for it! — Zelensky assured.
In his opinion, from the very beginning there was not a very transparent policy regarding Ukraine's membership, “because decades have passed, and Ukraine is not in NATO”.
— It was unfair to Ukraine and Ukrainians. And it was also unfair on the part of our leaders, who said that we were promised that we would be in NATO. I also believe that there was a weak position on the part of Germany and the United States, because they had a dialogue with the Russians, — the head of state explained.
And he noted that they lost this dialogue, since they always appeal to the fact that there were some agreements with the Russians at some point.
— I have a question as a Ukrainian: why did you suddenly agree on us without us?? We are an independent country! Why, back in the 1990s, 2000s and beyond, did you constantly agree on Ukraine without us? What security guarantees should we have?? — the president emphasized.
He called this behavior unfair and dishonest, so he would like to equalize respect for Ukraine.
— We are fighting for security guarantees, we want to be in NATO, most of the bloc's countries support us, — Zelensky added.
