For a year now, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Armed Forces have been holding back the Russian invaders in all directions of the front. In the first weeks of the war, our defenders even managed to repulse the attack on Kiev and prevent the enemy from capturing it, but everything could have gone according to a different scenario.

Russia's plans failed
Obviously, thanks to careful preparation and planning, the capture of the capital of Ukraine in the first hours of the war was avoided. The invaders had several plans to take the city, and one of them probably concerned the occupation of the heart of our state from the north.
There was a considerable threat that the invaders would be able to break through the defenses of the Armed Forces in the Chernigov direction and cross the bridges from the left bank to the right. Therefore, our military command had to decide to mine all the crossings.
They (bridges – Channel 24) were all mined. There was a command, if there is a breakthrough, then cut off the possibility of crossing from the left bank to the right, – stated the head of the Defense Ministry, Reznikov.
In addition, he stressed that one of the key goals for Russia was to capture the government quarter.
