Hearing on the case of the murder of Solomiya Tarasyuk

The court hearing, which considered the measure of restraint for the man who was informed of the suspicion of murdering seven-year-old Solomiya, took place in the Khadzhibeysky (formerly Malinovsky) District Court of Odessa.

The suspect himself stated that he became disabled in 2022 due to a head injury. According to the Dumskaya publication, the man is not married, has no children, and does not officially work anywhere.

It is noted that his parents died when he was still a child, so he was raised by his godmother.

During the hearing it became known that it was she who refused to bring the lawyer documents and certificates about the health of the suspect in the murder of seven-year-old Solomiya Tarasyuk.

In court, the prosecutor said the man should be placed in pretrial detention without bail. He said the suspect had carefully covered up the traces of the murder.

The perpetrator cleaned the apartment where the murder took place, threw the seven-year-old child's things in the trash, and took the body a long distance away.

The prosecutor says this shows a sophisticated mind and the ability to plan carefully. He believes that if the suspect remains at large, he could escape.

The man himself admitted his guilt in court. According to him, he understands what happened and is very remorseful.

The suspect noted that he would have given his life at the front to wash away this filth.

“I have problems with my head. I take pills based on narcotic substances that my neuropsychiatrist prescribed for me. But my godmother did not provide documents, so I can't say anything more. I am guilty – I admit it,” he emphasized.

As noted in court, after the forensic examination of the body of the murdered seven-year-old girl, an additional qualification related to sexual violence may appear in the case.

The death of Solomiya Tarasyuk, who went missing on the evening of June 18 in the Khadzhibey district of Odessa, became known the following day. Her body was found in the Odessa region, the National Police reported.

Hundreds of volunteers and law enforcement officers searched for the seven-year-old girl. A 31-year-old Odessa resident was arrested on suspicion of murder and admitted his guilt.

According to the National Police, the man lives next to the child's family. He invited Solomiya to his home and killed her. The preliminary cause of death is mechanical asphyxia due to strangulation.

The attacker wrapped the body of seven-year-old Solomiya in film, put it in a bag and took it in a box in a taxi several blocks away, where he hid it in a basement next to a residential building.
