The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) chose a preventive measure for Verkhovna Rada People's Deputy Andrei Odarchenko from the Servant of the People party.
As stated in the HACC decision on Wednesday, November 22, Odarchenko will be held in custody with an alternative bail in the amount of UAH 15 million until January 20 inclusive.
It is noted that Odarchenko was suspected of attempting to bribe the head of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Infrastructure Development, Mustafa Nayema, with cryptocurrency in exchange for assistance in obtaining money from the Fund for Liquidating the Consequences of Armed Aggression for the repair of buildings at the State Biotechnological University, where the deputy continues to hold the position of rector (the contract is suspended) .

According to the prosecutor's office, the people's deputy had to be taken into custody because he could escape, as evidenced by his behavior on the first day of the war. Then, according to prosecutors, Odarchenko went to Transcarpathia, despite taking the oath “to defend the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine with all his actions.”

According to investigators, Odarchenko offered Mustafa Nayem bitcoins in the amount of $50 thousand, but managed to transfer only $10 thousand. This allegedly happened in early September after a meeting at the Hilton hotel restaurant.
For his part, the people's deputy denies that he transferred the money.
— Yes, I communicated with Mustafa Nayem many times on various topics, but I did not voice any offers of improper benefits. There was exclusively communication about assistance and the allocation of funds to the State Biotechnological University,” Odarchenko said.
It is noted that Odarchenko traveled outside of Ukraine seven times after February 24, and his family lived in Thailand from March 2022 to July 2023.

Now the people’s deputy’s family is in Uzhgorod, where the people’s deputy himself intends to “settle down,” judging by information from prosecutors.
According to the prosecution, in conversations with Mustafa Nayem, the people's deputy normalized the aggression of the Russian Federation.
– Why does the First want elections now? Because they will force you to come to an agreement, and rightly so – why do we need these Donetsk and Lugansk ones? Crimea? To hell with it. Clearly it's a pity. We need to negotiate,” the prosecutor quoted Odarchenko as saying.
He said this not in the first days of the war, but in August 2023. The prosecutor's office believes that such words may indicate the deputy's inclination towards collaboration or other crimes against the national security of Ukraine.
