On Thursday, November 16, the new British Foreign Minister David Cameron, together with the head of the Ukrainian department Dmitry Kuleba, arrived in Odessa on a working visit.
According to Sky News, they visited the city's Black Sea port. Cameron became the first British minister to visit Odessa and “see first-hand how Ukraine is “pushing back Russian forces in the Black Sea to ensure grain can reach vulnerable countries around the world.”
The publication also notes that David Cameron's visit will attract the world's attention to Ukraine.

– I am very glad to be in Odessa, on the Black Sea. What the Ukrainian Armed Forces Naval Forces have achieved is very important. They pushed back the Russians and opened up new sea routes. I am proud that the UK has an important role to play and we will continue to do so. There is still a lot to come,” said the British Foreign Secretary.
British support for Ukraine
While in Odessa, the head of the British Foreign Ministry announced increased support for the Ukrainians.
This includes providing people evacuated from front-line areas with the necessary winter supplies.
Great Britain highlights:
- £10 million to the Ukrainian Red Cross Society for the supply of medical supplies;
- more than £7 million for humanitarian aid in dangerous places on the front line;
- £1.4 million for Mercy Corps' work in Ukraine.
