Presidential elections of 2019: the main thing

• Volodymyr Zelensky officially announced his intention to run for the presidency of Ukraine on New Year's Eve 2019. On January 30, Zelensky was officially registered as a presidential candidate.
• During the first round of elections, Volodymyr Zelensky received 30.24% of the vote. More than 5.7 million citizens who came to the polls cast their votes for him.
• According to the voting results, in addition to Volodymyr Zelensky, the then-fifth president Petro Poroshenko also passed to the second round.
• The second round of elections was held on April 20, 2019. Then 73.22% of voters voted for Vladimir Zelensky. That is, he received more than 13.5 million votes of citizens. The gap between Zelensky and Poroshenko was more than 48%.
• On April 30, 2019, the Central Election Commission officially announced Volodymyr Zelensky as the winner of the presidential election.
• The Verkhovna Rada chose May 20 as the date of inauguration. It was on this day that Volodymyr Zelensky officially took office and became the sixth president of Ukraine.
• During his first speech from the rostrum of the parliament, Volodymyr Zelensky announced the dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada of the VIII convocation. New parliamentary elections were held in July of the same year. The presidential party “Servant of the People” won there.
