I have no legal claims, but NATO is responsible for the war in Ukraine – Zelensky

Vladimir Zelensky/Office of the President

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky gave an interview for the 60 Minutes program of the American CBS TV channel. During the conversation, he was asked if he still believes that NATO and Western cranes are responsible for the killing of Ukrainians in the war that Russia started.

The host quoted Zelensky's address to the NATO summit on March 4, at which the President of Ukraine stated that “all the people who died that day will also die because of you, because of your weakness.” This is how Zelensky reacted to the Alliance's refusal to “close the skies” over Ukraine and the almost complete lack of military assistance to fight the Russian occupiers.

Zelensky answered the question, are those countries that decided not to fight in World War II, and through whose territories the Nazi army passed without a fight, responsible? And also, are the people in whose apartments the Nazi officers lived and served them guilty?

“Is the whole world responsible, first of all, for the genocide of the Jewish people, if we are talking about the Second World War? Although there are many Nationalities and countries suffered. Yes, it does,” Zelensky said.

According to him, although these people did not kill anyone, they also bear responsibility for the war crimes committed by the Nazis at that time.

That's what I meant when I said that I have no legal claims against NATO or some leaders of NATO countries. Because many relationships with leaders are good. But in general they are responsible when you can “close the sky”. It's so scary that a world war will start. It's horrible. I understand this,โ€ Zelensky said.

The President of Ukraine said that he could not put pressure on the leaders of NATO countries or the people of these countries on a daily basis, because they are all afraid of war. But despite this, the world is still responsible for what is happening in Ukraine.
