The thesis that “Russia does not abandon its own” exists only in the propagandistic statements of the invaders. In fact, this is not so, which is confirmed by a military prisoner from Ussuriysk.
The “comrades” left the captured sergeant, the commander of the assault squad of one of the Russian units, wounded near the village of Zelenopolye, Donetsk region. Moreover, he recognizes himself as an occupier and believes that Russian troops have nothing to do in Ukraine.47-year-old Viktor said that during his “service” he and other occupiers “lived in a 'forest camp'”, where they dug trenches and sometimes went out to storm Ukrainian positions. The occupier received his wound during the second such departure.
For the first time we went to storm, nothing happened, we returned back. They went to the second assault, and got wounded, – he said.
It was after the unsuccessful attempt of the assault that the “not abandoning their own” tried to “pat up” their sergeant, but after the failure they left him on the battlefield. So the invader crawled across the field on his back all night to ask the Ukrainians for help. Then he was captured.
It is interesting that not only the invaders abandoned him, but also the command, which, back in Russia, gave out bad clothes from the warehouse and bulletproof vests “made in China”. The occupiers had neither binoculars nor thermal imagers.
In the hospital, he admitted to being an occupier
Victor also said that he did not understand why Russia had come with the war in Ukraine. He did not see the mythical Nazis and Bandera, who eat babies for breakfast. I didn't see that the Ukrainians “don't let the local population live”.
I don't understand why we're coming here, the same simple people live here as we do. And then others came and began to put things in order. There is nothing for us to do here,” said the Russian.
However, he did not “see the light” in the trenches, but only in the hospital, where Ukrainian doctors saved his arm and leg. Now he recognizes himself as an occupier and is not angry with the Ukrainians. However, he is still shocked that his own people abandoned him on the battlefield. The Russian prisoner also said that he hopes for an exchange.
