Hungary intends to systematically block the EU military aid financing program for Ukraine in the amount of €6.5 billion.
Budapest made this decision against the backdrop of Kyiv’s ban on the transit of Russian oil to Hungary.
This was stated in an interview with ATV Hírado by the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Peter Szijjártó.

Ban on Russian oil transit through Ukraine — Hungary's position
– I made it clear that until this issue is resolved by Ukraine, everyone should forget about paying €6.5 billion in compensation for arms supplies from the European Peacekeeping Program.< /p>
Because what will the payment of €6.5 billion, which we facilitate, look like while Ukraine threatens the security of our energy supply? – says the diplomat.
Szijjártó stressed that the European Commission must exert significant pressure on Kyiv. From Budapest’s side, the situation is extremely transparent, he believes.
– Let me remind you that the Association Agreement between the European Union and Ukraine clearly states that Ukraine cannot completely or partially interrupt the transit of energy resources through its territory to the EU countries. It will be difficult for the European Commission to support Ukraine in this one-sided issue, — summed up the Hungarian politician.
