Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban arrived in Kyiv on a visit on Tuesday, July 2.
This was announced by Orban's press secretary Bertalan Havasi, reports Index.

Victor Orban’s visit to Kyiv was the first trip of the Hungarian Prime Minister to Ukraine after the outbreak of a full-scale war.

The most important topic of discussion today will be the possibility of establishing peace in Ukraine. Viktor Orban and Vladimir Zelensky will also discuss current issues of Hungarian-Ukrainian bilateral relations, the head of the press service of Havasi said.
According to sources from The Guardian in Budapest, plans for Orban’s visit emerged after lengthy negotiations on the rights of the Hungarian-speaking minority in Ukraine. The issue of citizenship rights of the Hungarian minority is one of Budapest's biggest complaints against Ukraine. Because of this, Orban has been accused of promoting Russian propaganda regarding the war in Ukraine.
What Orban says about his visit to Kyiv
— According to him, the goal of the Hungarian presidency of the European Union is to contribute to solving the challenges facing the European Union. That’s why my first trip was to Kyiv,” the Hungarian Prime Minister wrote on his Facebook page.
Recall that Hungary is taking over the EU presidency on a rotational basis until the end of the year. Hungary has repeatedly questioned the need for military assistance to Ukraine and called for a ceasefire.
Previously, Viktor Orban said that Hungary does not agree with the process of Ukraine’s accession to the EU, but will not block it and supports the start of negotiations.
