Prime Minister On May 24, Hungarian Minister Viktor Orban declared a state of emergency in the country. This happened immediately after the new government was installed.
The state of emergency will come into effect at midnight on May 25 and will give the government “room to maneuver and the ability to immediately respond” to the consequences of the war in neighboring Ukraine, Orban said in in a video message posted on his Facebook page.
According to Orbán, the Hungarian government will announce its first emergency measures as early as Wednesday.
