Residents of the occupied Donetsk region have been living for almost a year without any hint of a stable centralized water supply, but neither Russian officials nor representatives of local ” authorities” are not going to admit that it is simply impossible to solve the problem during the temporary control of this territory by the Kremlin.
According to Channel 24 sources in the Ukrainian special services, the Russian curators of the “DPR” project, Denis Pushilin and his retinue, together with officials of the Rostov region, launched large-scale activities in order to steal a huge amount allocated from the Russian budget. This money, according to the documents, was intended for the construction of a water pipeline from the Don River to the occupied Donetsk.
However, this project is something stillborn from the very beginning, because it has no real meaning for a number of reasons.
Neither the “republic” nor the Russians will have water
- As you know, the problems with water supply for residents of the territory of the Donetsk region temporarily not controlled by Kyiv began with a full-scale invasion of Russia, when the invading army destroyed all technical structures, thanks to which Donetsk and other cities received water from the Seversky Donets.
- There is virtually no possibility for any of the parties to restore the operation of the channel. Ukraine is physically unable to do this due to active hostilities and the huge cost of repairs. Russia, on the other hand, does not want to withdraw its troops from our territories, cannot take control of the entire territory of Donbass, and is generally unable to implement such a huge project for economic reasons.
- It is because of these factors that the occupiers and collaborators only pretend that they are trying to solve the problem. At the same time, we are talking only about cutting funds, because all the studies of specialized specialists indicate that Donetsk residents will be without water until the de-occupation and restoration of the entire infrastructure of the region.
Tales that water supplies would improve and stabilize sounded from Denis Pushilin back in the summer of 2022. Then the collaborator said that the specialists were working on solving the problem, and after the capture of Slavyansk, the engineers would allegedly quickly restore the equipment. The most interesting thing is that already at that time everyone knew that the occupiers had no chance of repairs. After all, taking control of such a vast territory by the Russian army looked like something incredible, the invaders did not have access to the necessary details, and the specialists who could carry out repairs were forcibly mobilized and participated in hostilities.
Did officials in Moscow understand this back in the summer of 2022? Undoubtedly. Did they realize that there was no way out of the situation when they were developing an alternative water supply plan? Absolutely right! Therefore, when Pushilin told the Russian pseudo-media about how “Russia will build a canal from the Don”, he knew that the project would not be implemented. Or it will be made, as always, from shit and sticks, and the new water supply will not cover any needs of the inhabitants of the quasi-republic.
However, according to the Ukrainian intelligence services, the Russian government has allocated a billion rubles as the first tranche of financing the construction of the Don-Donetsk Canal, and numerous contractors have already managed to master more than half of this amount. According to all documents, the start of the launch of the water supply system was scheduled for the first half of 2023, and rather large-scale work is even going on in the Dugino farm.
Dozens of trucks constantly ply along broken roads from Rostov to a forgotten settlement, as if mocking the locals residents. Who never even knew what a centralized water supply was.

That is, the authorities of the aggressor country are engaged in the construction of a stillborn project for the residents of Donbass, while the water pipeline will pass by a bunch of villages without centralized water supply. idiotically, officials spend public funds.
However, in the “Russian world” no one can be happy, therefore, those who live in the temporarily occupied Donetsk region should not expect improvement. Because, firstly, the water supply will not be completed even in the coming months, and secondly, Pushilin already admits that he will not even be able to cover the needs of people. Like, there will be a lot of water, but more than 60% will remain in the ground due to the wear of pipes. Obviously, when planning a project worth more than 1 billion rubles, everyone knew about the state of infrastructure in the occupied territory. Apparently, within a year, the occupiers will actually build something incomprehensible, which they will call a new canal, but both Russians and residents of Donetsk will be without water.
