Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov thanked the American people for the new $675 million aid package. The day before, US defense officials said that the countries of the world are ready to support Ukraine in the long term.
The head of the Defense Ministry said that he began the day of “Ramstein-5” with a meeting with “great friends of Ukraine” – Head of the Pentagon Lloyd Austin III and General Mark Milley. Reznikov also met with his British colleague.
New aid package
Austin, speaking at a Ramstein meeting in Germany, said that Ukraine will receive financial support.
The first good news from “Rammstein-5”! Another tranche of US security assistance to Ukraine ($675 million) will include howitzers, artillery ammunition, Humvees, armored ambulances, anti-tank systems, and more. Reznikov noted.
Recall that the fifth meeting of the contact group on the defense of Ukraine in the Ramstein format is being held on September 8 in Germany.
What is known about the Ramstein format
- The first meeting in the Ramstein format, at which Ukraine's world partners discuss support for our state in the war with Russia, took place on 26 April in Germany at the US military base “Ramstein”. 40 countries joined the meeting. It was decided to provide Ukraine with equipment for self-defense totaling more than $ 5 billion.
- The second meeting was held on May 23 and representatives of 4 more countries of the world joined it.
- The third meeting in the format “Ramstein” was held at the NATO headquarters in Brussels and brought together defense ministers from more than 55 countries. Ukraine received military assistance from the United States, Poland, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Canada and Germany.
- For the fourth time, Ukraine met with its allies in the Ramstein format on July 20. Then the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, announced that the United States of America would transfer four more HIMARS highly mobile artillery missile systems to Ukraine.
