How warm weather helped the energy system: the expert named positive factors

Since the end of December, a strong warming has begun in Ukraine. Warm weather helps Ukrainian specialists to improve the operation of our energy system.

Namely, in terms of repairs and upgrades of power system equipment. Alexander Kharchenko, director of the Energy Research Center, told Channel 24 about this.

How warm weather helps the power grid

The director of the Center for Energy Research said that the repair of the energy system continues around the clock and does not depend on the weather. However, in warm weather it is much easier and faster.

So, mostly the repair of power equipment takes place in the open air, but now there are comfortable and warm conditions for the work of specialists.

In addition, as a result of the “plus” temperature, the consumption of fuel, coal and gas is reduced. Therefore, Ukrainians will be able to feel more confident about the next months, which will not be easy. So, soon we may need all the available reserves.

Now this weather helps us a lot, in particular, to save fuel and increase our reserves, and at the same time work to ensure that people receive electricity,” explained the director of the Energy Research Center.

What is the situation with the light: briefly

  • The energy system of Ukraine has already experienced 11 waves of massive missile and 14 unmanned attacks, which caused significant damage to generation and backbone networks. Ukrenergo reported that the past few days were difficult for our power engineers. The enemy again tried to leave the Ukrainians without electricity.
  • However, the Ukrainian energy system withstood these attacks and people were mostly left with electricity, and all thanks to the work of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, Ukrenergo and other business entities in the energy industry.
  • Energy expert of the Razumkov Center Maxim Belyavsky noted that the set of measures adopted by the Ukrainian power engineers allowed our citizens to pass the holidays with a minimum shortage of electricity in the energy system. In his opinion, the minimum number of shutdowns will last at least 7-10 days.
  • DTEK Executive Director Dmitry Sakharuk said that it takes years to restore the Ukrainian energy system to the state it was before the Russian terrorist attacks. So, there will be blackouts even after the end of the war with Russia.
