Powerful earthquakes rocked Turkey and Syria on February 6th. Maxar has published satellite images of the aftermath of the disaster.
According to The New York Times, the death toll in Turkey as of 11:30 pm on February 7 exceeded 5,800. In turn, 1,800 people died in Syria.
What Turkey looks like after the earthquake
The American aerospace company Maxar, the next day after powerful earthquakes in Turkey, published photos showing how the elements changed the country.
In the photo you can see that the earthquake destroyed many houses – they literally turned into piles of stones.
The New York Times also published photos from the Turkish streets. Journalists said that thousands of rescuers continue to clear the rubble, desperately looking for survivors.
The later people are found under the rubble, the worse their chances of survival become. – said the regional director of emergencies of the World Health Organization, Gerald Rockenschaub.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit the earthquake zone on February 8. He spoke about this during a telephone conversation with the family of Yakup Tas, a member of parliament from the Justice and Development Party.
His body was removed from the rubble of a building in Adiyaman, along with the bodies of about 20 of his relatives. Erdogan expressed his condolences to the relatives of the deceased.
