Since May, Ukrainians have been receiving gas from Naftogaz. So now the new supplier has to pay.

It is not uncommon for people to mistakenly pay the previous supplier. However, one should not think that the money cannot be returned, because it can be done. GazPravda experts explained how to carry out such an operation.

How to return gas payments

If the gas supplier has changed, then the payment for the consumed gas is not transferred to the account of the new supplier, it cannot be redirected to the payment for gas distribution – the money can only be returned. This should be done within 5 working days.

In case of overpayment, the amount is credited towards payment for the next billing period or returned to the consumer's current account at his written request within five working days days after receiving such a request.

To get a refund, you mustcontact the previous gas supplier and write a statement. It consists in any form, but it is necessary to indicate the personal account number. The application must indicate the full name, place of residence, request to return the funds, date and signature.

You can send the application by mail to the official address of the old supplier. Also, the application can be sent by e-mail to the official e-mail address, in which case a signed photo copy of the application should be sent.

The following documents must be added to the application:

  • copy of the passport holder of the front account (the first two pages and registration);
  • a copy of the identification code of the owner of the personal account;
  • a certificate with the details of the card account from the bank (or an extract from Privat24);
  • a copy of the gas payment receipt for the period when the overpayment occurred.

All copies of documents must be certified by the consumer, including the inscription “according to the original”, date and signature.
