During the war, Ukraine abolished the excise, duty and value added tax for the import of a car from abroad. Otherwise, the rules for registering a car with foreign registration remained unchanged.

The State Customs Service told citizens what has changed in the procedure for registering a car with foreign numbers. During the war, a decision was made to simplify some procedures.

Rules for registering a car with a foreign registration

During the war, Ukraine abolished duties, excise and value added tax for the following modes of transport:

  • passenger cars and their bodies;
  • semi-trailers and trailers;
  • trucks and vehicles intended for the transport of goods and more than 10 people;
  • motorcycles.

It is also reported that there is no need to pay for customs services when performing customs formalities after hours and outside the workplace customs authorities.

The new rules do not apply to cars from Russia, Belarus and temporarily occupied territories.
