< p _ngcontent-sc136="" class="news-annotation">Russian blackmail against the Zaporozhye NPP failed due to the harsh reaction of the Western countries. However, Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin will continue to blackmail the world on key issues where the Kremlin has influence.

Russia's behavior on the international stage and in the war against Ukraine is further isolating the Putin regime from the world. Political strategist Boris Tizenhausen told Channel 24 about this.

Blackmail from ZNPP failed

The expert believes that Putin's blackmail will continue, including at the Zaporozhye NPP. This will meet with a backlash in the West. In addition, the head of the Kremlin has other tools with which he can put pressure on countries.

Putin has a wide range of blackmail tools: from energy prices and an explosion at a nuclear power plant to nuclear weapons and the prospect of invading new neighbors. The Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant didn’t work out, because Europe understands that if something really happens there, then not only Ukraine will suffer, but also part of the territory of Russia, Belarus and European countries. – explained the political strategist.

According to him, for this reason, the United Kingdom and the United States threatened to use the Article 5 protocol on collective protection, since this is a direct threat to the inhabitants of the countries of the alliance.

“This pacified Putin a little. He tried to tell that he was at war with NATO, but he was not at war with NATO. If he had fought with NATO, everything would have been completely different there,” Tizenhausen added.

Isolation deepens

In his opinion, the Kremlin does not understand what is happening. A striking example of this was that Russia tried to convene the UN Security Council for the second time, because “Ukraine is allegedly shelling its own nuclear power plant, which Russia has stuffed with equipment and explosives.”

The logic in the Kremlin is that Ukraine is trying to bury itself under nuclear ashes. Russia is playing such a strange game that it has already received even calm countries that treat it loyally. – summed up the political strategist.

What is happening at the Zaporozhye NPP: recent events

  • The actions of the Russian invaders led to the first ever complete shutdown of the Zaporizhzhya NPP. Despite the provocation of the enemy, the level of radiation in Energodar is still normal.
  • The invaders brought even more military and equipment to the ZNPP. In total, more than 40 units of military equipment are now deployed on the territory of the nuclear power plant. On August 22, the Russians brought two more armored personnel carriers and 6 special trucks to the plant's repair area at the ZNPP. In addition, there are more military personnel at the Zaporozhye NPP.
  • As a result of Russian shelling of Energodar, an employee of the Zaporizhzhya NPP was killed. Medics fought for the life of the man, but the injuries were too severe.
  • Energoatoms believe that periodic shelling of the ZNPP territory poses serious risks to the plant's safety.
