Putin comes up with new reasons for the war/Getty Images
Russian President Vladimir Putin on April 12 met with the self-proclaimed head of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. Putin made statements about a “special operation” in Ukraine.
This was reported at the Center for Counteracting Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council. The president of a terrorist country manipulates the Minsk agreements and explains the actions of the Russians in Ukraine in a new way.
Putin's main messages at the meeting with Lukashenka were:
- Ukrainian authorities publicly did not want to comply with the Minsk agreements agreements;
- Russia recognized the pseudo-republics because it was impossible to observe the “genocide”;
- Ukraine threatened Russia with neo-Nazism, so it was necessary to attack first.
Why Putin is lying
However, as the Center noted, Russia itself violated the Minsk agreements by recognizing on February 21 the sovereignty of the territories it occupied. This meant that she herself withdrew from the negotiations.
Besides, Putin is manipulating the word genocide, and during the 8 years of the war, propaganda did not talk about it. The Center also recalled that Russia and Belarus had joint military “exercises” near the borders with Ukraine, but constantly denied that they were preparing for war.
