How much does artificial insemination cost and what determines the price
In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a method that will help overcome infertility and allow a couple to have a long-awaited child. This procedure is performed in several stages, the duration of which varies from approximately 2 to 4 weeks. Each stage is incredibly important for achieving success.
It usually includes:
- Stimulation of ovulation by using hormones to cause follicles to grow. When they reach the desired size, the woman's eggs are removed. At the same time, sperm is removed from the man.
- In the laboratory, doctors combine the egg with sperm to form an embryo.
- Transfer of the embryos into the uterus. For several weeks after the embryo is inserted, the woman may be given hormone therapy to increase the chances of the embryo implanting.
- Confirmation of pregnancy if the procedure is successful. Pregnancy occurs when the embryo implants, that is, attaches itself to the uterine lining.
The cost of IVF in Ukraine depends on the specific case, since each couple has its own individual situation that requires a specific approach.
The exact amount is difficult to predict. The total cost of the procedure will be affected by the number and type of necessary examinations, further infertility treatment. The examination may include tests, colposcopy, spermogram, ultrasound, etc. But approximate figures can still be given.
How much does IVF cost in Ukraine in 2024
Having familiarized ourselves with the cost of services in reproductive clinics, we can conclude that the average price for artificial insemination IVF in Ukraine is $4493 (UAH 183,764), where the minimum cost is $2351 (UAH 96,156), and the maximum is $6957 (UAH 284,541).
Reproductive clinics also offer several IVF packages. The price will depend on its content. For example, an infertility treatment program using IVF can be basic, optimal, and intensive.
Considering that the number of infertile couples in Ukraine is growing, in 2024 the Ministry of Health will introduce financing of assisted reproductive technologies under the program of state guarantees of medical care for the population. The medical guarantees program covers a new package of services for the treatment of infertility using assisted reproductive technologies (in vitro fertilization).
Women will be referred for the first course of infertility treatment using assisted reproductive technologies at budgetary expense for medical reasons.
For infertility treatment, you can independently choose a medical institution from the list of those that have entered into an agreement with the NHSU (National Health Service of Ukraine).
