Ukraine needs more F-16 fighters to counter Russian airstrikes, and to do this it is necessary to expand training missions for Ukrainian pilots.
This was stated by President Vladimir Zelensky at a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council in Washington.
Zelensky about the F-16 and pilot training
— We need enough F-16s. Russia operates about 300 combat aircraft, we need at least half of them. We need to expand training missions for pilots, — he emphasized.
Zelensky also noted that the duration of this war depends on the pace of delivery of aircraft and training of pilots.
Now watching
— How many years will we wait for half of the 300 aircraft at the current rate of delivery and training? The war should not last this long. And in the case of the F-16, it’s not up to us, — emphasized the head of state.
Previously, Zelensky said that Ukraine needs at least 128 F-16 fighters to create effective competition in the skies against Russia.
According to him, against the 300 Russian aircraft that the enemy uses daily against Ukraine, 10-20 fighters and even 50 — it's nothing.
Denmark and the Netherlands have recently begun the process of transferring F-16 fighters to Ukraine.
