Kazakhstan and Russia have the longest common customs border in the world. This has a significant impact on the development of economic relations between countries.
A businessman, public figure, media manager from Kazakhstan Arman Shuraev told Channel 24 about this. According to him, many Russian companies have moved their head offices to Kazakhstan.
Russian schemes in Kazakhstan
Arman Shuraev explained that in the last 15 years, Kazakhstan and Russia have been operating within the framework of a customs union.
“There is also the CSTO and many other unions that are very toxic for Kazakhstan, in which we have been participating for many years,” he said.
However, according to him, this should not be the case, so the legislation should be changed.
“Of course, now there is evidence that the number of smartphones purchased by Kazakhstan is acceptable, suddenly in a strange way increased by 10 times than a year before. It is clear that all this goes through some kind of schemes in the Russian Federation,” the public figure said.
In his opinion, the leadership of Kazakhstan is actively fighting this.
In order to work to control the imposition of sanctions, our leadership even allowed the US Treasury to fully control all financial transactions, he focused his attention.
According to Shuraev, Kazakhstan will not want to be under sanctions, the curtains behind which Russia has found itself. Consequently, the actions of the state authorities are aimed at changing the situation.

Less corruption in Kazakhstan
The public figure said that the biggest problem that is hindering now is the huge border between Russia and Kazakhstan with a length of 7.5 thousand kilometers. It is the longest land border in the world.

In his opinion, it is now very profitable for Russian private entrepreneurs to import goods to the Russian Federation through Kazakhstan. Even before the start of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, many companies and firms also moved their head offices and vials to a neighboring country.
“Our tax regime is much more democratic and simpler than in the Russian Federation. There is less corruption and everything is digitalized,” he stressed.
According to him, even in such conditions, business is trying to support Ukraine by selling cases at an increased price and giving the extra charge to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
