How EPAM helps Ukraine on the economic and volunteer fronts

Since February 24, all Ukrainians have united to help the country as much as possible during the war. The EPAM company also entered this process, for which the main tasks were the safety of the Ukrainian team of many thousands and the comprehensive support of Ukraine.

How EPAM helps Ukraine

From the first days of the full-scale invasion, EPAM has placed particular emphasis on social assistance. In March, the company allocated $100 million to help professionals and their families, and in April created a special EPAM Assistance Fund to unite the efforts of professionals, partners, and clients to organize assistance to people and communities where it is most needed.

“Every week we received hundreds of requests for help – from our colleagues, partners, foundations, representatives of local authorities, internally displaced persons from all over the country. To organize a systematic approach, a rapid response team was formed, which on an ongoing basis coordinates all work to provide assistance. Now we cooperate with more than 30 international and local foundations.Over the past 6 months, EPAM, in cooperation with them, has provided assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 67 million hryvnia.Ukraine Stepan Mitish.

Large-scale response program EPAM Response focuses on 3 areas

Helping people

  • The Fund purchased first-necessity supplies and products for IDPs for 4 million hryvnias. Consequently, almost 9,000 people received important assistance.
  • Medical support and assistance to hospitals amounted to more than 25 million hryvnias. With these funds, EPAM Response purchased ambulances, first-aid kits, turnstiles, medical supplies.
  • Protective equipment and special equipment worth almost UAH 26 million for defenders. The funds were used to purchase evacuation vehicles, clothing and footwear, helmets and bulletproof vests, equipment for demining territories.

Assistance to the state

  • EPAM paid 100 million hryvnia in taxes in advance.
  • In addition, hundreds of pieces of equipment and furniture were donated to the needs of state bodies, and also to hospitals, educational institutions and city councils in de-occupied cities and towns.

Assistance to educational partners

  • This spring, along with AWS partners, nearly 20 universities migrated critical infrastructure to the cloud, including those in war zones.
  • In April, EPAM University launched a free IT Fundamentals program to master the basics of computer engineering. It has become the largest project for 12,000 newcomers in the company's history.
  • The company's experts have also joined the IT Generation project of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, which aims to give Ukrainians a new profession in IT.
  • < li>In July, EPAM supported the Ukrainian school team at the 63rd International Mathematics Olympiad in Norway.

The EPAM team in Ukraine and around the world immediately mobilized to help in any way possible, and today more than 10 thousand specialists of the company continue to do this.

Volunteer movement within EPAM

According to internal surveys, more than 800 colleagues consider themselves volunteers, about 100 of them are actively involved in public organizations or their own volunteer projects. Every week, the internal community of volunteers closes about 10 different requests – from providing first aid kits, food and clothing to buying cars.

A separate area of ​​assistance is digital volunteering. The company's specialists implemented 15 IT projects on the development of digital solutions at the request of state bodies, in particular, they created platforms for faster clearance of humanitarian cargo at the border and for collecting data on the organization of the sowing campaign, an aid coordination website in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk, etc. The digitized data of the assistance provided can be found in the added infographic.
