President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Mike Johnson, a Republican, on his re-election.

– Future decisions of the House of Representatives can be key to establishing a true and lasting peace. The Ukrainian people are sincerely grateful to Congress and all the American people for their continued support. I wish Speaker Johnson success in his important mission. May the Lord help you in your service, Zelensky wrote on the social network X.
The President also congratulated the 119th US Congress on the beginning of the first legislative session. Zelensky stressed that the decisions made by the House of Representatives, chaired by Johnson, could play a decisive role in establishing peace in Ukraine.
The bicameral and bipartisan support of the US Congress allowed Ukraine to save thousands of lives and prevent the capture of many of our cities by Russian occupiers, the president noted.

Recall that today the US House of Representatives re-elected Speaker Mike Johnson on the second attempt.
During the first vote, the Republican received 216 votes out of the 218 required. In the second round of voting, two Republicans who had previously supported another candidate changed their minds and cast their votes for Johnson.
