In Frankfurt am Main there was an attack with a knife: a nineteen-year-old boy crept up to an unknown woman, stabbed her several times and seriously injured her, the report says.< /p>

The victim is 41 years old. At the time of the attack she was simply sitting on the banks of the Main River in Frankfurt am Main – near the European Central Bank. A 19-year-old guy crept up behind her, grabbed her by the shoulder and stabbed her head and neck several times with a folding knife.

The woman managed to escape and ran a few meters, but she tripped and fell. Then the guy caught up with her and stabbed her several times while she was lying on the ground.

Fortunately, passers-by heard a scream and rushed to help. They called the police and an ambulance. The woman is in the hospital, her life is not in danger. The prosecutor's representative praised the witnesses for their moral courage and quick reaction.

The attacker escaped, but not far: he hid in the bushes near the European Central Bank. He had a knife with him.

The police detained him and brought in a helicopter to search. The guy turned out to be an Afghan citizen, possibly from Baden-Württemberg.

He is still in custody, the Frankfurt district court issued an arrest warrant on suspicion of attempted murder, connected with dangerous bodily injuries.

It is not clear why the criminal attacked the woman. They did not know each other, as the police say. The prosecutor's representative believes that the victim was an “accidental victim.” The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported that the woman is Ukrainian.
