Former Prime Minister of the Netherlands Dries van Agt together and his wife passed away as a result of the euthanasia procedure. Both were 93 years old.

This was reported by the human rights organization The Rights Forum, which was founded by Dries van Agt.

Van Agt was Prime Minister of the Netherlands from 1977 to 1982 After leaving official posts, he continued to be actively involved in international politics, in particular in the process of resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Why the couple did euthanasia

Van Agt and his wife had been in poor health for some time. Van Agt suffered a cerebral hemorrhage in 2019 and never fully recovered.

The couple died on Monday, February 5th. Both were 93 years old.

They will be buried in a private ceremony in the eastern city of Nijmegen.
