Ukrainian military received Mistral man-portable air defense system (MANPADS) from France. This high-precision MANPADS leaves no chance for the enemy to survive.

The missile accelerates to 2,762 km/h.

In Operational Command “South ” told in detail about Mistral. It is reported that MANPADS has a standard configuration, typical for other types of weapons of this class.

An anti-aircraft guided missile is placed in a disposable transport and launch container, to which an electronic launcher is attached before firing.

The launcher contains equipment for determining “friend or foe”, and also a thermal imaging sight for shooting at night. For a convenient launch, the complex is placed on a tripod with a gunner-operator seat, the message says.

The Ukrainian military notes that the French MANPADS are packed in two containers during transportation. The total weight is about 50 kg.

The guided missile consists of a body, an infrared homing head (GOS), electronic guidance equipment and electric servomotors for control.

For information. The electric servomotor is a self-contained electrical device that rotates rocket parts with high efficiency and precision.

As told in OK “South”, it takes about one minute to bring the Mistral MANPADS to combat readiness. The reload time of the complex is only 30 seconds.

The launch time of the rocket by pressing the trigger is 3 – 5 seconds. The starting engine pushes the rocket out of the transport and launch container at an initial speed of 40 meters per second.

At the same time, the planes of the stabilizer and aerodynamic rudders are revealed, which control the rocket in flight. The main engine turns on at a distance of about 15 meters from the launcher and accelerates the rocket to a maximum speed of Mach 2.6 (almost 2762 kilometers per hour), the military said.

The rocket only needs 6 seconds to reach an air target within a radius of 4 kilometers.

The homing head of the Mistral MANPADS missile is capable of capturing and escorting aircraft at ranges of more than 6 km and a helicopter – more than 4 km, even on a collision course.

As reported in Yuga, to achieve high sensitivity of the seeker, cooling of the signal receiver is used (a refrigerant cylinder is attached to the trigger mechanism). This design can significantly increase the accuracy of pointing the missile at the target.

It is reported that the error of pointing the missile is only 1 meter. Exploding at such a distance from the target a high-explosive fragmentation warhead of a rocket weighing 3 kilograms, containing several dozen tungsten balls, leads to a guaranteed defeat of an air object.

What kind of assistance Ukraine receives from France

< li>In June, French President Emmanuel Macron visited Kyiv, where he met with Vladimir Zelensky. Then Macron announced that France would provide Ukraine with additional Caesar self-propelled artillery mounts and a mobile DNA analysis system to investigate war crimes.
  • In late June, French Minister of the Armed Forces Sebastien Lecornu announced that his country would provide Ukraine with French armored vehicles produced by VAB. France is also thinking about transferring Exocet anti-ship missiles to Ukraine.
