This opinion was voiced by political scientist Oleg Lisny to Channel 24 . According to him, even if Biden and Xi talk about Ukraine, important decisions regarding ending the war will not be made.

Oleg Lisny noted that at the meeting, Joe Biden and Xi Jinping will most likely not ignore the topics of Ukraine and the war between Hamas and Israel. However, this meeting will not stop any war and will not become historic.

It is likely that negotiations between the leaders will be limited in time. Therefore, Biden and Xi will talk more about relations between the United States and China, because there are many unresolved issues between the states.

China needs a weak Russia

According to the political scientist, China can influence Russia economically. However, Xi Jinping does not have the influence to force Vladimir Putin to end the war against Ukraine.

China also has many difficult issues with the United States. He is interested to see how Putin crosses these red lines, whether he will get paid for it, or whether they turn a blind eye to it. “Xi Jinping needs a weak Russia,” Lesnoy explained.
