Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that this week will be historic for Ukraine, with the Rammstein meeting to take place on October 12. The importance lies in providing Ukraine with the weapons that its partners promised to supply, which our main allies have not yet done.

Mikhail Samus, Deputy Director of the Center for Army, Conversion, and Disarmament Studies, told Channel 24 about this, noting that the US will decide on such a step only after the US elections on November 5. For now, the West is afraid of escalation.

How the US position may change after November 5

According to the Deputy Director of the Center, it would be good if Ukraine's allies provided us with political guarantees and prepared us for counteroffensives. In the meantime, no other country in the world is responsible for Ukraine.

According to the historicity that Zelensky spoke about, this is about transferring to our country the weapons and assistance that our partners promised.

“Partners must fulfill what they promisedWe have F-16s, but we don't have weapons for them. That is, we don't have any JASSM air-to-ground missiles for them, nor long-range air-to-air missiles. Therefore, the Russians calmly fly Su-57s, and Su-34s drop KABs,” Samus noted.

Note! Former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg admitted that he regrets not providing Ukraine with sufficient weapons on time and takes some responsibility.

The Deputy Director of the Center explained that US President Joseph Biden and other leaders of countries will be present at Rammstein, which is also historic, since it has always been held at the level of defense ministers. It is at this meeting that the partners should discuss the supply of everything Ukraine needs.

We will not be given weapons up to F-16s and weapons that will give us the ability to carry out offensive actions before the US elections on November 5, I am sure. Our partners are afraid of escalation, – Samus noted.

He explained that the Biden administration and Kamala Harris's campaign headquarters are apparently afraid that if Russia starts taking escalatory measures, it will look like their weakness and be projected onto Harris's rating.

From January 5 to 20, according to the deputy director of the Center, there will be a very interesting period: Biden will leave his political career, the Russians will try to make the most of this situation, as we will. Then there will be a situation that is still unclear to us, which will depend on who wins the elections.

A very important historical period. Either they will give us the necessary weapons or not, which will then have major consequences not only for Ukraine, but also geopolitically for the West, – Samus emphasized.
