Higher military educational institutions in Ukraine: where to enroll and what is required for this

In 2024, applicants can enroll in higher military educational institutions. The Department of Military Education and Science of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced the dates for the 2024 admissions campaign.

To obtain the educational and professional degree of professional junior bachelor in military colleges, it is necessary to study for 2 years. After graduation, students will be able to serve in the positions of sergeants and petty officers.

The bachelor's degree is obtained in military universities and is carried out according to the cadet training scheme. That is, throughout the entire training, the student has the status of a military man, and after graduation he is awarded the primary officer rank of junior lieutenant. The term of study is 4 years.

Higher military educational institutions: features of admission

Civilian youth aged 17 to 30 are admitted to study in military educational institutions. Persons who turn 17 in the year of enrollment may also apply.

Military personnel and those liable for military service aged 18-30 may apply (but only those who do not have officer ranks).

That is, the following may apply to military universities:

  • applicants (boys and girls) who have completed complete general secondary education;
  • applicants who graduated from technical schools, colleges, lyceums and universities (who have received professional pre-higher, higher, professional, vocational and technical education).

Military educational institutions in Ukraine provide for the following competition options:

  • based on the results of the multi-subject test NMT of 2024, 2023 or 2022;
  • based on the results of the VNO (external independent assessment) of 2021;
  • based on results of entrance examinations in competitive subjects determined by a particular educational institution.

After this, the applicant will undergo a medical examination, physical testing and psychological selection.

One of the main conditions for admission is the applicant's health suitability.

If an applicant wants to receive professional pre-higher military education (enter military colleges), he must pass an entrance exam, which includes testing knowledge in 4 competitive subjects. The form and procedure are determined by the educational institution.

When does admission to higher military educational institutions begin

The conditions for admission to military higher educational institutions differ slightly from admission to other universities.

  • Acceptance of applications, reports, registration and sending of documents from the TCC and SP, personnel services of military units, organizations and institutions to the admissions committees of higher military educational institutions, military educational units of higher educational institutions and institutions of professional pre-higher military education is carried out until July 1, 2024.
  • Document processing will last until July 10.
  • The decision by the selection committees on admission to participation in entrance examinations and competitive selection will last until July 15.
  • Acceptance of applications and documents by admissions committees from applicants to educational institutions will last until July 20.
  • Entrance tests and competitive selection for training will last from July 20 to July 30, 2024.
  • Compliance of applicants with admission requirements ends July 31, 2024 by 15:00.
  • Enrollment of applicants will last until August 1 of the current year.

How to submit documents for admission to a military educational institution

Higher military educational institutions provide a number of conditions for admission. To submit an application and the necessary documents, the applicant must contact the territorial recruitment and social support centers (TRC and SP).

The application must indicate:

  • Full name and date of birth;
  • Place of residence, telephone number and postal code;
  • Name of the selected educational institution or military department;
  • Specialization of training and specialty code;
  • List of competitive subjects of the NMT 2024 or the results of the External Independent Assessment 2021 or NMT of previous years old.

You must attach to your application:

  • a copy of your identity document;
  • a copy of your military registration document;
  • a copy of your taxpayer registration card number (RNUKPN);
  • a copy of your complete secondary education document;
  • medical card;
  • medical certificate confirming completion of a psychiatric examination;
  • certificate of passing a drug examination;
  • autobiography;
  • copies of documents that give the right to benefits (if any);
  • six color photographs measuring 3×4 cm;
  • two postal envelopes with stamps.

It is also necessary to indicate the address of the place of residence and the address of the TCC where the applicant is registered with the military.

Military personnel who want to enroll in an educational institution must submit the following documents to the admissions committee:

  • military ID;
  • identity document;
  • original taxpayer registration card (RNUKPN);
  • original document on complete general secondary education;
  • NMT or VNO certificates;
  • original document entitling to benefits (if any).

After receiving the application and documents, the TCC creates a personal file.

If the applicant cannot contact the TCC, he can send the application with documents directly to the admissions office of the selected educational institution. This can be done in person, by email or regular mail until July 20, 2024.

Military personnel entering the university must submit a report and relevant documents to the personnel service of the military unit.
